The lone Wolf cries to the Moon at night
He wanders in shadows in search of his light
The Wolf emerges from his lonesome den
To brave the frontier and begin again
His wounds of old have cut him deep
Memories unravel and make him weep
He seeks a place to rest and slowly unwind
To open his heart and clear his mind
He finds his solace, bathed by the Moon
Her luster encases him, a sacred cocoon
He basks in her glow, his belly exposed
His tail falls limp, and his eyes start to close
But out in the open, the Wind hits his face
He startles and recoils from an unknown embrace
The Wolf smells danger, a change in the air
So he retreats to his shelter; back to his lair
The Moon returns, awaiting his nightly call
She shines brightly above, boldly bares all
Her arms stretched open for the Wolf's return
In search of his Moon; his natural yearn
Maybe she's foolish to wait for his cry
Night after night, as she graces the sky
But no howl is heard, as the Wolf remains
So her radiance dims and slowly she wanes
The Moon succumbs to the dark; consumed whole
Overtaken by sorrow; crippling her soul
Alas, don't fret, for her darkness is brief
She always emerges after shedding her grief
Wolves may howl and cry out to her light
She may shelter these beasts night after night
The Moon will survive and outlast us all
Regardless of hearing a wounded Wolf's call
Waxing or waning; she vanishes and reappears
For she knows her gifts outweigh her tears
When you look to the Moon, and find her above
She's either hoping or grieving for her lost love
And sometimes you'll hear the lone Wolf's lament
Crying out for his Moon, his lost luminescent.
